In less than 2 weeks I’ll be hitting the studio together with Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson. This as part of our BromBron residency at the Extrapool in Nijmegen. For a week we’ll be working on new tracks and finish it with a presentation of the results on Friday the 21st of December. Sigtryggur is member of Stilluppsteypa, a band I discovered in the mid nineties and instantly became a fan of. Needless to say that I’m pretty psyched about this collaboration!
Brombron, originally a co-production between Staalplaat and Extrapool, is now hosted by co-curator Frans de Waard. In the year 2000 Frans de Waard and Extrapool started the Brombron project. Two or more musicians become artists in residence in Extrapool, an arts initiative in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, with a fully equipped sound recording studio. These artists can work in a certain amount of time on a collaborative project; a project they always wished to do, but didn’t have the time or the equipment to realize.
